I started writing in journals as a girl to keep myself from going crazy and later as a mom with a vivid over-active imagination confined with nowhere to go except playdates and PTA meetings. After pursuing an acting career in Los Angeles, achieving my SAG eligibility, and working in the entertainment industry, I settled down, married my eternal companion, and become a stay-at-home mother. My over 40 years of theater experience and a lack of funds for a nanny, led me to start a theater company called GRIFFITH PLAYHOUSE that offered a Kinder Theater daycare program right out of my home. Over time, it grew into summer acting classes for school-aged kids. Until what it is today, a company that provides after-school acting and theater classes.
As an acting teacher with no budget, I started writing short plays for my students to perform. And after a few years, I realized I had enough to publish a book. Whereas short children’s plays are hard to find publishers for, I self-published my own books and now offer two volumes of 10 MINUTE PLAYS FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES, a #1 Best Seller on Amazon. They sells all over the world and have even been translated into Farsi. One of my plays, TRIP THROUGH TIME, is also featured in CJ Fallon's education publication, MASTER YOUR ENGLISH 6, published in January 2024.
To make a long story, longer, writing has taken over my life and I gladly let it happen. I started with a knack for poetry and plays, which led to everything from short stories and picture books to mythology-based YA novels. I've been an active member of SCBWI since 2018 and currently volunteer as co-Assistant Region Advisor (co-ARA ) for my local SoCal Chapter. As co-ARA I run and participate in several critique groups a month and help organize events. I try to attend as many conferences, workshops, and writing retreats I can to improve my writing and marketing skills.
