The promise of this new venue, will hopefully lead to more students who love theater and want to develop their skills. Because of the location change, classes will include a longer two-hour class one day a week instead of an hour-long class two days a week. Showcases will no longer be on weekends but on the last Tuesday of class session. What I love the most about this location is that the kids will have firsthand knowledge of upcoming auditions for shows put on by local other theater companies who work the with theater. They will get to audition and hopefully participate in full-length plays and musicals where they can experience what live theater is all about. ROUND TABLE THEATER READING IN HAWAIIIt seems silly to go all the way to Hawaii to do a table reading of a short play but it's a real thing in my world. I’m heading to Kauai, Hawaii to accompany my husband on a work trip, where his colleagues all get together for meals and a table reading of one of my plays. Last year, when one of his co-workers found out I wrote children's plays, he rallied up her coworkers and performed an impromptu recorded reading of BECAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. It was a blast to have grown adults acting out the parts. They had so much fun they have decided it would be an annual event from then on. I thought they were joking, but when I was debating whether to go this year, I got a text message insisting my reading would be missed. So the decision was made and I'll be heading out there later this month, to have them read THE RHYMING CHEF from Volume #2. I think it’s the perfect amount of theatrical shenanigans for this crew. I’ll be sure to take pictures and share it with you all if I can. I’m also looking forward to having some much needed writing time this escape will provide, given the holidays have taken all my time and attention the last couple of months. NYC SCBWI WINTER CONFERENCEJanuary 30th, I’ll be off again to NYC for the SCBWI Winter conference. I’m thrilled to be able to attend this in person event for the first time and get to meet some amazing, talented people within SCBWI community. I’ve also been invited to attend an after-hours party and rub elbows with SCBWI leaders from other regions around the world. It should be a fun event and I’m looking forward to it. If I’m lucky maybe, I’ll get to fit in a Broadway show nearby! Any suggestions?
As for New Years Even Goals, I have too many!
1. Get VOLUME #3 out. There have been some delays as I was hoping to have it done by the end of the year. It’s in the editing stages now. 2. Get all my play's PDF up on my site for purchase and download. It's a daunting task I've been putting off for too long. 3. Get an agent!!! I’ve got some submissions out to agents and waiting to hear back from them. So keep your fingers crossed that 2025 is the year.
